​As of April 03, 2017 WorkSafeBC requires that all joint health and safety committee members in BC must receive 8 hours of instruction in JHSC Training. Every business with 20 or more workers is required by WorkSafeBC regulations to have a functioning Joint Health and Safety Committee in place. Western & GG Health and Safety Consulting is proud to present our 8 hour online JHSC training BC (JOSH Committee Training BC) course which meets and exceeds all new WorkSafeBC requirements. Our online or classroom 8 hour JHSC online training BC course, will assist employers and participants on how to start-up a committee at your workplace, how to effectively implement a JHSC, duties and functions of members and as a team, and the OHSR regulation. ​​A Minimum of 4 members must be present at your monthly JHSC meeting. All members must be certified and trained. It is recommended to also train 1 to 2 alternates. 50% can be management reps and 50% can be employee reps. You cannot have more management reps on your committee than employee reps. For example 2 managers; 4 employees is good. Employee Reps must be elected by the workers.

​This course will be conducted by our instructor by ZOOM web training. Each student can have access to a personal PC with internet or you can situate them in a classroom and project our instructor from an audio/video setup.

The joint safety and health committee supports the employer's duty to ensure a healthy and safe workplace. The joint committee brings together representatives of the employer and the workers, to identify and help resolve health and safety issues in the workplace. The joint committee plays an important role in your occupational health and safety program, giving workers and employers a way to work together to identify and find solutions to workplace health and safety issues. Any workplace with 20 or more employees should have a health and safety committee, while those with less than 20 workers must have a designated worker health and safety representative. This course aims at helping participants to identify and interpret JHSC member's functions and duties and to carry out their responsibilities to promote workplace health and safety.

This 8 hour course, will assist employers and participants on how to start-up a committee at your workplace, how to effectively implement a JHSC, duties and functions of members and as a team, and the WorkSafeBC regulations. Our course also covers the following topics as required by OSHA Regulations:

The duties and functions of a joint committee
The rules of procedure of the joint committee
The requirements around conducting incident investigations
The requirements around conducting regular workplace inspections, and how to make regular inspections
The requirements around responding to a refusal of unsafe work
The requirements for annually evaluating the joint committee
Successful completion of a written theory exam is required for completion of this program.
